Research Manager (international) – The Role
In this engaging research position, you will provide technical design, analysis and information in a systems thinking context to help achieve lasting impact for farm animals and potentially wildlife.

You will work with campaigners and farm animal welfare experts to develop effective research-based approaches that underpin campaign strategies with high quality information and data. You will conduct predominantly desk and sometimes field research, and manage research projects across multiple countries, liaising with both World Animal Protection staff, collaborators or consultants.

You will be able to use your communication skills to translate science into campaign copy, and to brief and discuss the key points and meaning of your research with a range of colleagues and audiences.

Research Manager – Requirements
• Post graduate qualification in a scientific discipline, preferably environment / resource management / climate science, public health, agroeconomics or farm animal welfare, ideally in combination with a base degree in one of the above.
• Experienced and highly motivated researcher, with a proven track record in developing and delivering research led approaches to achieve specific outcomes.
• Experience in the operational and tactical delivery of (preferably global) research findings to a high standard.
• Relevant experience of working on primary evidence gathering and data analysis in a scientific and / or academic environment, and knowledge of relevant methodologies and processes.
• First class analytical and decision-making skills - able to assimilate and analyse information quickly and accurately to effectively inform campaign tactics and strategies.
• Ability to demonstrate understanding of systems thinking, outreach, research and information gathering processes and techniques which can be applied through an evidence gathering perspective across a range of issues and stakeholder groups
• Team player with excellent project management and co-ordination skills and ability to develop and maintain good working relationships across internal departments and teams.
• Strong verbal communicator, and able to constructively engage external and internal stakeholders and speak or present publicly.
• Strong English language writing skills, with an ability to be well understood by different audiences, including academic, expert, media and the public.
• Works well under pressure of deadlines.
• Flexible to undertake international travel.
