Do you have a passion for sustainable food systems and a talent for building relationships with farming communities and related organizations.

World Animal Protection Canada is seeking a Rural Relations & Community Engagement Manager to engage with farmers, environmental groups, and health organisations to drive positive change in Canada’s food system.

In this role, you will develop and implement engagement strategies to build support for policies that promote a more humane, sustainable, and plant-based food system. You’ll be the key link between World Animal Protection and rural stakeholders, working to influence decision-makers and shape a future where farm animals are treated with respect and compassion.

We’re looking for someone with strong stakeholder engagement skills, knowledge of sustainable agriculture, and an ability to navigate the intersection of animal welfare, environmental and health issues, and food policy.

Join us and help transform Canada’s food system for the better. Apply today!

Who are we?
World Animal Protection is the global voice for animal welfare, with 75 years’ experience campaigning for a world where animals live free from cruelty and suffering. We have offices in 14 countries and work across 47 countries and General Consultative Status at the United Nations. We collaborate with local communities, the private sector, civil society and governments to change animals’ lives for the better. Our Canadian office is a member of the National Farm Animal Care Council (NFACC).

Our goal is to end animal cruelty and suffering for both wild and farmed animals. Through our global food system strategy, we’re working to transition away from intensive animal agriculture and create a more humane and sustainable food system. By taking a One Health, One Welfare approach and presenting science-based, practical and sustainable solutions we demonstrate how animal welfare can help address some of the biggest global challenges including the climate and biodiversity crises and public health crises (eg; pandemic/disease risks, antimicrobial resistance and diet-related diseases)

What can we offer you?

• Paid vacation
• 13 paid public holidays
