Financial Accountant

Location: Hybrid - Toronto, required to work in office minimum two days/ wk.
Salary: The starting salary is C$55,000 per annum with the possibility of C$62,000 based on an assessment of skills and experience at the interview stage

The Financial Accountant at World Animal Protection plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and compliant management of financial processes. This position involves a wide range of responsibilities, including managing day-to-day accounting tasks such as banking, invoicing, supplier payments, payroll, and month-end closings. The incumbent will support the finance manager in preparing accurate financial statements and assist in developing budgets, forecasts, and analyses to support the organization's mission. A key part of the role is ensuring the accuracy of financial records and collaborating closely with the fundraising department to reconcile donations and other revenue sources.
In addition to technical accounting skills, the ideal candidate for this role will demonstrate strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills. They will possess a post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline and have experience in the financial sector, preferably with a background in the charitable sector. Proficiency in financial software, including Microsoft Dynamics Business Central and online banking systems, is essential. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess excellent communication skills, and uphold the organization's core values, including diversity, inclusion, and accountability.
